Ken Januski is an artist in Philadelphia, PA. He studied art at City College of San Francisco, University of California at Berkeley and Cornell University. Though his artistic training is abstract he has worked in a naturalistic style since 2006. 2011 was a banner year for his recognition as a naturalistic artist. He appeared in 'The Natural Eye', the 48th annual exhibition of the Society of Wildlife Artists in London, UK in late October/early November, 2011. In the spring of 2011 he was also chosen as a finalist in the International Art category for BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year.
The great majority of work for sale here is naturalistic but a few older abstract drawings are included. Most of Ken's naturalistic work has used birds as subject. This change from abstract to naturalistic work was a difficult one and he didn't know if he might fall flat on his face. But after more than five years he is happy with his decision to change. This is an outgrowth both of his love of birding and of nature in general. As he has continued to do naturalistic work he's found that he can incorporate more of the elements that originally attracted him to abstract art.
Please use the category links at left to explore what is available here. Ken's web site includes more work, especially older abstract work..Most of the art except for most insect drawings is unmatted and unframed. The insect drawings are older but probably served as a transition for Ken to move from abstract work to naturalistic work.
